Is rebranding important?
In a controversial move Lufthansa, German based airline, have overhauled their iconic logo which has been used for 100 years. The new logo has been in place since last week and will be rolled out fleet wide over the next eight years.
Not only will the new logo be seen on the aircraft itself but will also be shown on boarding passes and check in counters to ensure brand continuity.
A Lufthansa spokesperson has confirmed that the well-recognised yellow that the brand identifies with will not be lost and will still be found within the business, however future designs will now be largely focused on a chosen shade of dark blue.
Rebranding is vital to every business at some stage in its lifecycle; even big names like Facebook and McDonalds overhaul their branding occasionally.
Why is rebranding important?
The main driver that ensures that people buy from a particular place, person or brand is due to the emotional attachment they have formed. Given the choice would you pick up a can of Pepsi or Coke? Would you rather visit Cineworld or Odeon? Now ask yourself why you would choose one over the other? Hopefully you can understand the relationship customers build with a brand and perhaps you can appreciate the reasoning as to why sometimes a rebrand is necessary.
Repositioning during a rebrand.
Sometimes people realise that they have been targeting an audience that is no longer relevant, incorrect all along or just needs adjusting. If this is you, rebranding is an extremely effective way of attracting your new audience and moreover, letting them know that you can supply them with the goods or services that they want and need.
