Raising awareness for youth unemployment

The 15th of July Marks World Youth Skills Day

The 15th of July is fast approaching which marks ‘World Youth Skills Day’. This day raises awareness of the level of youth unemployment.

It was explained by the United Nations that young people are almost three times more likely to be unemployed than adults. Not only that, but they’re continuously exposed to lower quality jobs; within these professions there are greater labour market inequalities in addition to insecure school-to-work transitions.

It’s upsetting knowing that in 2017 there are still labour inequalities. There is no doubt that young people have been the worst affected by the financial crisis, making up much of the current unemployment rate. Therefore, World Youth Skills Day is vital with education and training are key determinants of success in the labour market. We here at VerriBerri in Essex have a young team with our director just 31 years old. Here’s why it’s important to put faith in our young people:

Young People Are the Future

Believe it or not, there will come a time where millennials and generation Z will be in charge. You want the best for them and the economy but how can they achieve their goals if they lack experience and training. The team here at VerriBerri vary in age. We feel this is vital as we love to take on a fresh pair of hands, train them in the VerriBerri way and watch them grow.

Apprenticeship

Apprenticeships are often not discussed enough. It could be that an apprenticeship is one of the best paths to go down for your business, dependent on your industry and current skills. If you are a young person looking for work, with an apprentice you gain experience as well as a qualification. When your apprenticeship comes to an end you will enter the world of work not only qualified but experienced which will put you in good stead when compared with other potential employees.

Up to Date

When it comes to marketing it is vital you are always on the ball. By employing younger people, generally, they are more in tune with social media and current affairs. You can rest assured your company is always up to date with the latest news. Catching the wave, so to speak, is the peak time to attract new clientele.

There’s everything you need to know on World Youth Skills Day. We here at VerriBerri, Essex marketing and PR agency, employ people of all ages. If you would like more information, please don’t hesitate to get in touch!
